Veterans
in Society
The Veterans Studies Association (VSA) has established a fund to support member attendance at Veterans in Society Conferences.
Eight grants of $250 available for the 2022 conference, held on 20-21 October, in Phoenix, Arizona. The call for papers can be found here.
Eligibility
Only current members of VSA are eligible to apply. No individual is eligible to receive more than one travel grant. (Join VSA. Why?)
Priority will be afforded to people who fall in one or more of the following categories:
-
Part time, adjunct, or non-tenure/tenure track faculty
-
Current students at the graduate or undergraduate level
-
Scholars who submitted a proposal for the pending conference
For future events, preference will be given to those who have previously applied but not received an award.
Application
Follow this link to complete an application no later than August 7, 2022. In addition to contact information, the form will require applicants to submit a short (two-page) CV and write a short statement (<150 words) that describes how that applicant will benefit from attending the conference.
Selection
Recipients will be prioritized by the categories above, then selected by lottery. Successful applicants will be notified by email in early September 2022.
Distribution
Funds will be distributed to grantees via PayPal approximately one week before the conference.
Post-conference requirements
After the conference, successful applicants are required to write a 250-word reflection on their experiences at the conference. Reflections should not be a summary, but rather a provocative, interesting, or thought-provoking reaction. These reflections will be published on the VSA media outlets to spark conversation.
